Privacy Policy for Parent Tube
Last Updated: November 25, 2025

1. Introduction Welcome to Parent Tube. This application is developed to provide a safe and controlled environment for children to view content approved strictly by their parents or guardians. We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.

This Privacy Policy explains how Parent Tube (“we,” “our,” or “the App”) handles your information. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. No Data Collection (Offline & Local Functionality) We strongly believe in privacy. Parent Tube does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers.

No Backend Server: We do not operate a backend server or cloud database. We do not have access to your personal information, viewing history, or credentials.

Local Storage: All data, including settings, media selections, and login credentials, is stored locally on your device using the Android SharedPreferences and internal storage mechanisms.

3. Information We Manage Locally The App manages specific data to function correctly. This data resides solely on your device:

Admin Credentials:

Upon the first launch, the parent sets an Email and Password.

These credentials are stored securely in the device’s local SharedPreferences.

They are used strictly for local authentication to restrict access to the “Parent/Admin” settings.

Password Recovery:

If the Admin/Parent forgets their password, the App offers a “Forgot Password” feature.

To use this, the user must enter the exact Email Address originally registered during the setup.

Since there is no server, the App verifies the email locally against the stored data. If the email matches, the user is allowed to reset the password.

Media Content (Images & Videos):

Parents select images or videos from the device’s Gallery.

The App stores the file paths (URIs) or references to this media in SharedPreferences.

The actual media files remain on your device; we do not upload them anywhere.

YouTube Links:

Parents can add specific YouTube video links.

These links are stored locally to generate a safe playlist for the child.

4. App Permissions To function as a media player and parental control tool, the App requires the following permissions:

Storage (Read/Write External Storage): Required to allow parents to select videos and images from the device gallery to add to the child’s playlist.

Internet Access: Required solely to play the YouTube videos added by the parent via links. The App does not use the internet to send user data to the developer.

5. Parental Control & Child Safety Features The App is designed with child safety as the priority:

Restricted Navigation: Once the “Child Mode” is active, the child can only view the content selected by the parent.

Slider Lock Mechanism: To prevent children from accidentally exiting Child Mode or accessing settings, the App features a security slider in the app bar. The user must slide this mechanism completely to be redirected to the Login Screen.

Isolated Environment: The Back button in Child Mode will exit the app rather than exposing the Admin settings, ensuring the child cannot modify configurations.

6. Third-Party Services

YouTube: The App allows parents to add YouTube links. When a YouTube video is played within the App, it is facilitated through the YouTube Player. Users are subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.

Google Play Services: The App may use default Google Play Services for core functionality.

7. Children’s Privacy While this App is intended for use by children, it is managed by parents.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or any age).

Since all data is stored locally on the parent’s device, no child data is ever transmitted to us or third-party advertising servers.

8. Data Security We implement reasonable security measures by utilizing standard Android security features (Private Mode for SharedPreferences). However, please be aware that no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Since the data is stored on your device, the security of the data also depends on the security of your physical device.

9. Changes to This Policy We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
